Thirst for Home

October 2, 2010

“A dead thing can go with the stream, but only a living thing can go against it.”
– from Everlasting Man, by G.K. Chesterton

the unrelenting thirst for Home,
the certainty of something more,
the feeling that you’re not alone:
they drive you toward the heaven shores.

the waves that crash upon your head,
the tears that show that you’re alive,
the words unheard, perhaps unsaid:
they prove that you’ve not yet arrived.

the calming storm, the dying sea,
the clouds that part, oh glorious beams,
the opened eyes that finally see;
they show the worth of Christ the King.
