A Haunting Picture from “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe”

September 20, 2010

There is a drawing from “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe” (LWW) which shows Aslan (*ahem* Jesus *ahem*), talking with the witch(*ahem* the devil *ahem*), in private. They are talking about Edward and what they should do about him. Well one thing that bothers me about this is that this assumes that the devil has any leverage against God. He does not. The only thing that he can bring up is God’s own rules and justice. But the devil cannot increase God’s wrath against sin. God already hates it absolutely and cannot forget it (for to forget something would go against His omniscience). So the ransom theory of atonement falls apart…. and that particular part of this Christian analogy is wrong. God didn’t make a deal with the devil. No one can initiate this. For there is nothing a created being has that God can possibly want or need.
