If I am not to gaze into her eyes

August 4, 2009

If I am not to gaze into her eyes,
nor take her as my lawfully wedded wife,
instead resist her longings and her lies,
I’ll swallow my desires, and let them die.

If I am not to gaze into his soul,
avoiding accusations, and the stones,
for they mistake the speck which is their own.
The sinless one they kill for sins unknown.

If I am to be doubted by my friends
my people, my own brother, will not end
their plea of earthly kingdom – deliverance,
then i will fail them, though my heart is rent.

You went alone into the wilderness,
so I won’t be alone in facing trials and tests.
